New Year, New You?


Happy New Year! Its that time of year again when we look back on what has happened and reflect upon that last 12 months gone by. I never believed my parents when they said "The older you get, the quicker it goes" However the further I get into my adult life each year 100% does go in a blink of an eye. So what are you planning for 2017... Holiday? Wedding? Or just ready to be a healthier version of you? Here are my top tips for staying on track throughout the year. WRITE DOWN YOUR GOALS

One thing i've done at the beginning of this year is write out a list of a few goals I would really love to achieve by the time december comes back around. Be realistic with what you would aspire for, though you can reach long term goals if you really work hard for them! Be accountable for how you will reach the finishing line and how you are going to take each step to get there. Then at the end of the year you can open up the list and see what you wrote and if you can tick them off.

IT'S YOU VS YOU

Be your own motivation. I truly love comparing current self to me 1 year ago, because me 1 year ago had no nutritional knowledge or any kind of background in training! Now my workouts are a priority that I manage to find time for and fueling them with the right kind of foods is essential to see any kind of change! You can't expect someone who has never stepped inside a gym before to burst through 10 reps of 80KG squats or to understand technique in performing certain body weight exercises. Take your time and go at your own pace! You will be impressed with what your body can actually do if you listen to it right :) Results will then follow without a doubt.

Social media is a great way to seek out some inspiration but at the same time DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS. 9/10 photos on the internet are most likely airbrushed or filtered to change the real image! Not everyone has a cellulite free body and an 8 pack all of the time.

FIND A TRAINING BUDDY

If you're feeling a little bit nervous or just don't want to walk through that gym door alone FIND A BUDDY! There is nothing more satisfying than having a friend to share your journey with bringing you's both closer together.

YOU MAY HAVE SETBACKS

Don't beat yourself up if you don't get to where you want to be within the time scale you have set yourself. Sometimes life gets in the way and surprises us with the most unpredictable circumstances, but just remember that you can ALWAYS get back on track. The mind is a powerful thing! Once it has passed, move on and start a new day fresh. Make January YOUR month and FIND YOUR STRENGTH! Stay safe.
